The Zenith Chronomaster is a modern expression of the brand’s long-standing tradition of high-frequency chronograph watchmaking, tracing its roots to the legendary El Primero movement introduced in 1969. The collection evolved significantly in the 21st century, culminating in models powered by the El Primero 3600, introduced in 2019 to mark the movement’s 50th anniversary. Building on the original El Primero’s high-beat architecture, the El Primero 3600 operates at 5 Hz (36,000 vibrations per hour) and features an extended power reserve of approximately 60 hours, while retaining the ability to measure short intervals to 1/10th of a second. The Chronomaster models equipped with the 3600 showcase this precision through a rapidly rotating central chronograph hand, making them a fitting modern successor to one of horology’s most important automatic chronograph movements.
