The Rolex Cosmograph Daytona is one of the world’s most recognizable watches. While the addition of 18K gold lends this watch a luxurious touch, it is still a robust tool watch equipped with a resilient Oyster case, a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal and the Rolex Triplock screw-down crown. Rolex released the Daytona reference 116523 in 2000 as part of the new-generation that was powered with their new in-house Caliber 4130 automatic movement. Prior to that year, Daytona watches ran on caliber 4030, which was a modified Zenith El Primero automatic movement. As with every Daytona, the watch includes a chronograph that is operated by the pushers next to the crown.
