Vintage 34mm Rolex Oyster Perpetual (1002)
This watch received a factory service in 1998, at which time it received a new bracelet. The attached bracelet has been unworn since 1998, and is in excellent condition. The Rolex Oyster Perpetual holds a significant place in watchmaking history. Introduced in 1931, it was the first waterproof wristwatch to feature an automatic, self-winding movement. The “Oyster” case, patented in 1926, revolutionized water resistance with a hermetically sealed design, protecting the movement from dust and moisture. The “Perpetual” part refers to its rotor-based automatic winding mechanism, which harnesses energy from the wearer’s movements. Over the decades, the Oyster Perpetual has become a symbol of precision, durability, and timeless design, remaining one of Rolex’s core models to this day.
