Pre-Owned Rolex 42mm Explorer II, Black Dial, Oyster Bracelet, Ref. 216570
Rolex dedicated the Oyster Perpetual Explorer II to polar explorers and all those pushing the boundaries of exploration. This watch is in unworn condition, and was originally purchased in Dec. 2022. It’s complete with box and papers, as well as its original Rolex hang-tag with matching serial number. The bold, oversized Mercedes handset and the 24-hour hand are both filled with Rolex’s Chromalight lume, while maxi-style indices are filled with ultra bright blue lume. The base of the Mercedes handset and the iconic bright orange 24-hour hand are painted black, which creates the impression that the hands are floating above the dial. The date aperture at three o’clock has the famed Cyclops magnifier. Both the top of the lugs and the fixed steel bezel are brushed, whereas sides are polished to a mirror finish, which provides a nice contrast and heightens the overall feeling of quality. This Explorer II Ref. 226570 was the first watch from Rolex to utilize their then new Caliber 3187, which included a Parachrom hairspring, Paraflex shock absorbers, Breguet overcoil and superlative chronometer certification. With its 42mm case in robust 904L stainless steel Oyster case and 100m of water resistance, the Explorer II continues to serve as a robust tool for modern adventurers.
