Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra 150M XXL Small Seconds Ref. 231.13.49.10.06.001

$3,650

Pre-owned Omega 49mm Seamaster Aqua Terra 150M XXL Small Seconds, Grey Dial, Leather Strap, Ref. 23113491006001

Omega introduced the larger sized XXL watch line in partial response to the larger Paneri and IWC Big Pilot models.  While the case measures a large 49mm with a lug width of 24 mm, the watch is a remarkably thin 12.5mm, even with the display-back. Combined with the relatively short lugs, the XXL wears so well on the wrist that it needs to be tried on to be appreciated.  The watch is remarkably comfortable on the wrist, and just feels normal to wear.  The surprisingly light weight, and low-profile design makes it easier for a broad variety of people to pull off the big watch look.

This classic yet robust timepiece represents a tribute to Omega’s rich maritime heritage. The dial design recalls the wooden decks of luxury sailboats. This model features a grey dial decorated with the Teak Concept pattern and a small seconds dial at the 6 o’clock position. A scratch-resistant sapphire crystal protects this unique dial. The bezel is mounted on a 49mm stainless steel case on a black leather strap.  This certified chronometer is powered by Omega’s mechanical caliber 2211, a manual-winding movement with the darker gunmetal-grey finishing visible through the display-back.

Description

Omega is one of the world’s most recognizable luxury watch brands. Although founded in 1848, the company did not become known as Omega until 1894, when the company took the name of its highly successful new watch movement. The revolutionary movement used a single crown for both winding and time setting. Success followed success when in 1905, due to its commitment to accuracy, Omega became the official timekeeper for Swiss sporting events. Later in 1932, Omega became the official timekeeper of the Olympic Games. To mark Omega’s 100th year anniversary, Omega introduced the watch that would become one of the world’s most popular watches, the Seamaster. While these are remarkable achievements, the watch that made Omega a legend among watchmakers was the Speedmaster, the only watch to survive the brutal NASA testing requirements and the only watch certified by NASA for use in Space. It is no surprise that Omega watches are recognized today as spectacularly rugged tool watches hiding in a luxury watch.
