New Omega 44.25mm Speedmaster Racing Co-Axial Chronograph Black Dial Stainless Steel Bracelet 32930445101001

This Speedmaster Racing Master Chronometer features a 44.25 mm stainless steel case and bracelet with a tachymeter scale on a black ceramic bezel ring.  A racing style minute-track gives the watch its name and includes two sub-dials with blackened applied rings.  The unusual and clever sub-dial at 3 o’clock tracks both the elapsed minutes and hours using two small hands.  This makes for a clean and legible dial, with only a date window at 6 o’clock. Completing the dial are rhodium plated hour and minute hands and 18K white gold hour indexes with white Super-LumiNova.   A domed scratch-resistant sapphire crystal with antireflective treatment covers both sides of the watch.

The fine finishing continues on the movement that has a rhodium plated finish with Geneva waves in arabesque. The exceptional Omega Master Chronometer caliber 9900 justifies the finish work, as it is certified by METAS at the industry’s highest standard and includes a column wheel with Co-Axial escapement..  The watch is resistant to magnetic fields reaching 15,000 gauss, making it as robust as it is beautiful.

Description

Omega is one of the world’s most recognizable luxury watch brands. Although founded in 1848, the company did not become known as Omega until 1894, when the company took the name of its highly successful new watch movement. The revolutionary movement used a single crown for both winding and time setting. Success followed success when in 1905, due to its commitment to accuracy, Omega became the official timekeeper for Swiss sporting events. Later in 1932, Omega became the official timekeeper of the Olympic Games. To mark Omega’s 100th year anniversary, Omega introduced the watch that would become one of the world’s most popular watches, the Seamaster. While these are remarkable achievements, the watch that made Omega a legend among watchmakers was the Speedmaster, the only watch to survive the brutal NASA testing requirements and the only watch certified by NASA for use in Space. It is no surprise that Omega watches are recognized today as spectacularly rugged tool watches hiding in a luxury watch.
