Only one watch is qualified by NASA for all space missions. Only one watch was issued to astronauts about to land on the Moon, the Omega Speedmaster Professional. This Moonwatch features a black dial covered by the same hesalite crystal approved by NASA for space. It has the same small seconds sub-dial, 30-minute recorder and 12-hour recorder along with a central chronograph hand. The black bezel, with its tachymetric scale, is mounted on a 42 mm stainless steel case and presented on a matching bracelet. At the heart of this chronograph is Omega’s mechanical caliber 1861, a descendent of the legendary manual-winding movement worn on the Moon.
This timepiece is offered with a special Moonwatch presentation box and comes with an additional NATO style strap as well as an extra long Velcro strap to be worn over your space suit as the astronauts did, as well as tool to change the straps and a book highlighting the Speedmaster heritage.
