Vintage 33.5mm LeCoultre Memovox (2404)
The LeCoultre Memovox was introduced in 1950 by Jaeger-LeCoultre as one of the earliest commercially successful mechanical alarm wristwatches. The name “Memovox,” meaning “voice of memory,” reflected its purpose as a practical reminder watch, with a mechanical alarm that could be set to sound at a predetermined time. Early examples were powered by manually wound movements, including the Caliber 489, and featured a distinctive rotating central alarm disk. In 1956, Jaeger-LeCoultre introduced the automatic Caliber 815, making the Memovox one of the first automatic alarm wristwatches. Over the following decades, the Memovox evolved through numerous designs and movements, including the iconic Memovox Polaris dive watch of 1965. Its combination of useful functionality, innovative mechanical engineering, and unmistakable alarm complication has made the Memovox an important part of Jaeger-LeCoultre’s history and a highly collectible vintage timepiece.
