Rolex Day-Date ‘President’ Ref. 1803

$13,695

Vintage Rolex Day-Date ‘President’ Champagne Dial, President Bracelet, Ref. 1803

The Rolex President is the epitome of a Rolex watch and what many people think of when they envision Rolex.  It wasn’t originally named the President, but only earned that name after being worn by several U.S. presidents. The Day-Date is a very legible and useful timekeeper, that just so happens to also be a spectacular piece of watchmaking. This 1803 reference features the classic champagne dial with stick hour markers. Attached is the iconic President bracelet in 18k yellow gold, with a folding clasp. The watch is in excellent condition for having just celebrated its 50th birthday. Unlike fashion trends that can change with a gust of wind, this iconic design will never go out of style.

Rolex GMT-Master II Ref. 116718

$41,495

Pre-Owned Rolex 40mm GMT-Master II, Black Dial, Oyster Bracelet, Ref. 116718

Rolex first introduced the GMT-Master in 1955 through a partnership with Pan-Am Airlines in an attempt to aid their pilots with a watch that could easily display two time zones at once. Since then Rolex has continued to make variations and improvements on that original GMT-Master. The GMT-Master II was first introduced in 1983 known as the ‘Fat Lady’ for its robust case thickness. It was with the 16710 reference that brought another update which featured a much slimmer case design, hedging the way to the reference we have here. This GMT-Master II with its 40mm 18k yellow gold case flashes a black dial with date reference at the 3 hour, and a green GMT hand. The case has an 18k yellow gold bi-directional rotating bezel with 24 hour black ceramic insert. Powering this timepiece is Rolex’s own self winding 3186 caliber movement with 50 hours of power reserve. Attached to the case is an 18k yellow gold Oyster bracelet with Oysterlock clasp. With all its changes over the years this GMT-Master II is still designed to make an amazing travel companion on those long transcontinental travels.

Girard-Perregaux ‘Vintage 1945’ Ref. 2599

$7,995

Pre-Owned Girard Perregaux 30mm “Vintage 1945” Silver Dial, Brown Alligator Strap, Ref. 2599

From 1999 to 2004, Girard Perregaux released an impressive diversity of dials and metal cases for the Vintage 45 Chrono Ref. 2599. This model displays the 1151 silver dial with Arabic numerals, and an arched 30mm x 31mm 18k yellow gold case making this watch an extremely comfortable wear. The dial rich features are harmonious, very well made, and blend round with rectangular extremely well. The subdials are inset to their rectangular frame which add a great level of depth and style. Powered by a self winding Cal GP 3080, which is made by Girard Perregaux offers 36 hours of power reserve. Attached is a brown alligator leather strap, which pairs perfectly with the 18k yellow gold, and wears comfortably. The Vintage 45 Chrono is a watch deserving of greater attention, with so many aesthetical and mechanical assets that it may well be rated above many other competitors of its category, and has something very special, an undisputable Vintage charm in a modern watch, the best of both worlds. Note: New genuine Girard Perregaux strap added prior to listing.

Rolex Day-Date ‘President’ Ref. 1803

$22,995

Pre-Owned Rolex 36mm Day-Date, Silver Dial, President Bracelet, Ref. 1803

Any Rolex Day-Date is a special watch, as it is often a recognition of personal achievement and success. Offered only in 18K gold or platinum and fitted with the special President style bracelet, they stand out, even amongst an already highly recognized brand.

The Day-Date was originally released in 1956 and the reference 1803 arrived two years later when Rolex upgraded the movements in the Day-Date; the 1803 continued in production for twenty years. While the Day-Date stands out, this reference 1803 is particularly special as it is made entirely of 18K White gold, a not often seen material. An acrylic dial also covers a distinctive “Pie Pan” dial, something that disappeared on later references. Solid gold watches tend to be heavier than their steel counterparts, but this reference 1803 is lighter than the modern Day-Date references because it used hollow links in its President bracelet. This watch from circa 1967 is powered by a caliber 556 self-winding movement, which does not feature the quick set date that appeared in later movements. (This feature is not likely to be missed as the wearer will probably not take the watch off long enough to need to adjust the day or date.) Full of character and history, the large, applied white gold hour markers stand out attractively against the silver colored, Pie Pan dial. The sweeping seconds hand and hour and minute hands are in excellent condition and make this a highly legible, as well as attractive watch. The iconic Rolex Coronet at the top center of the dial seems the perfect capstone. While the Presidential bracelet has some stretch, it is not bad considering it dates from 1967. Named after its preference among many powerful men including American Presidents, the Day-Date has since become associated with class, power, and high-style. In white gold, it becomes more understated, but this watch is no less attractive or heart-stirring.

Enicar Sherpa Graph Chronograph Ref. 07202-01

$13,895

Pre-owned Vintage Enicar 40mm Sherpa Graph Chronograph Black Dial, Leather Strap, Ref. 07202-01

Enicar had the famous racing car driver Stirling Moss introduce their new Sherpa Graph model in 1960.  However, it was the driver Jim Clark whose name is today associated with the model, as the Sherpa Graph was a favorite of his.  Based on the Valjoux 72 caliber, the 40mm stainless steel chronograph is the quintessential vintage chronograph.

There were variations in the dial, with this watch being a Mark IV variant that was introduced in 1966.  The Mark IV model had baton hands and a Sherpa 300 Seapearl case back. This watch has the word tachymetre and the scale goes to 300. The chronograph hand is the red lollipop dot that transitioned from earlier production watches but some Mark IVs included a red triangular tapered hand.  The Saturn logo is raised on the dial and also is on the hatched crown, as expected.  The black dial is largely unmarred, with a light scratch in the minute sub-register that is visible under magnification.  The tritium lume on the indexes is puffy and intact.  The dial appears clean and is quite attractive.  The stainless steel case with curved lugs make this a comfortable wearing watch and the lugs have clean, defined edges.  The case is free of major nicks and scratches, with only a few nicks from changing the straps by previous owners.  Overall, it is a clean and well maintained watch.
